29.11.2009 Rotterdam Design Prize

Today it was announced that the studio is the winner of the 2009 Rotterdam Design Prize for the design of four atlasses for 010-publishers.

The jury justified their decision as follows: Joost Grootens' four atlasses represent an extraordinary redesign of the atlas typology.The manner in which he has visualized the information gives the atlas a new and meaningful role. Grootens places great importance on the clarity of the information. His design is clearly intended to serve the reader. Design for Grootens is not an egotistic activity nor is it the promotion of a particular vision. The result is both brilliant and functional.
